I haven’t had time to sketch in so long! I’m planning on starting a new series of portraits, and who better than the Disney princesses, who are, let’s be honest, my main daily inspiration?
This portrait has been sketched completely by coloured pencils, and I used very little reference images so that my work is original in pose and colour. Apart from the obvious princess artwork, I was also inspired by headshots of early Hollywood stars such as Clara Bow, Jean Harlow, Bette Davis and Joan Crawford, which is fitting with the era when Snow White & The Seven Dwarfs was released (1939). They always looked very dreamy as they look off into the distance with their big doe eyes, which is what I happily managed to capture in this drawing.
Who would you like to see me draw next in this style? Let me know in the comments!
What’s black, white and Disney all over? That’s right – Ink & Paint! I have quite a few of their awesome animated pieces from ASOS, but today I thought I’d share my favourite picks for the sun, seeing as the weather is nicely heating up these days! Happy World Book Day! I hope you’re having a great day celebrating by catching up on your favourite tales, or maybe by reading new adventures in the great wide somewhere.
I was recently inspired by Disney‘s “Dream Big, Princess” campaign to create a post on our beloved Disney Princesses and heroines. Too often, I hear too many non-magical folk describe Disney females as “not being healthy role models” for children, and I want to prove them wrong. If it wasn’t for Continue reading “Pop Culture | World Book Day Special | Our Favourite Disney Princesses & Heroines”
Happy Valentine’s Day! It’s the 2nd Day of Batman Week here on my blog, and I couldn’t possibly pass up the chance to talk about one of DC Comics‘ most notorious couples: The Joker & Harley Quinn. They’ve caused chaos, controversy and destruction, but just how did this villainous duo come about? What do they represent? How has their twisted relationship changed over the years? Continue reading “Pop Culture | ‘Mad Love’ V Day Special | The Evolution Of The Joker & Harley Quinn”
I have been looking forward to writing this review since literally forever! It must’ve been 2014 when the first concept art was leaked onto the internet and Disney confirmed that their next “princess movie” will be set 2000 years in the past on a Polynesian island in the South Pacific, where a young teenager sails away on a canoe in order to answer her call of destiny and save her people. I will warn you now, this review does contain major spoilers in order for me to fully discuss the movie, so if you want to avoid them, go watch Moana in your local cinema, enjoy it… And head straight back here! Continue reading “Movies | ‘Moana’ Review”
That’s right… Rapunzel is finally complete! Which means I get to show you some celebratory goofy snapshots taken on my trusty iPhone 4s. Hopefully I’ll get the chance to get some “professional” shots soon, as well as Continue reading “Cosplay | Rapunzel Debut… & Making Wishes Come True For Charity!”
I’ve always loved Troll dolls. From the Good Luck Trolls of the 80’s to the magical girly cartoon of the 00’s, I’ve always found the big haired creatures so adorably cute (but, like, in an ugly way, if that’s possible!?) so I was completely excited to hear Dreamworks had made a musical movie starring Anna Kendrick and Justin Timberlake amongst many other great stars, such as Continue reading “Review | Dreamworks’ Trolls | Spoiler Free!”
